With finals quickly approaching and the cold winter days coming upon us, this can be a stressful time for many.
In these stressful and overwhelming periods, it is especially important to take care of yourself and your wellbeing. With this in mind, McGill SUS Mental Health and the McGill Peer Support Centre have each put together a list of resources that students and staff can look through to obtain more information on taking care of yourself and who to reach in times of need. You can reach out, at anytime, to the different professionals or groups listed in these documents.
This week we’re bringing you the second edition of Cookies, Coffee and Chill! The theme for this week is mental health. We’ve teamed up with our friends at Peer Support Center McGill to bring you an event that is much needed in this time of stress and unending deadlines.
CCC 2.0 will consist of support circle animated by PSC! A support circle (although it sounds like support group) is just a calm, safe(r) space where students can come and vent about anything they’re going through. Two of their trained active listening volunteers will be facilitating the circle, and our goal is really for students to break isolation and find solidarity with their peers.
This is a judgment free environment so feel free to come by and talk about what’s been on your mind. We hope to see you this Thursday, November 19, at 6:00 pm EST.
Good news, ANATOMY AND CELL BIOLOGY MERCH is now available!! You can now finally rep your program merch in zoom classes! You can select from a variety of items and color choices that best suits your preferences.
ps. This year, given the pandemic situation, the company that makes the clothing will be shipping it DIRECTLY TO YOU! This means there will be a shipping fee for the purchase. We can’t wait to see you all show off your new merch on zoom!
After a very successful first edition of the cooking class, Chef Afram is back!! This time with a new meal you can learn how to make and impress your guests and even yourself. Last time you chose creamy mushroom pasta. This time, we will hold another poll on Facebook in the upcoming days to determine what Chef Afram will be teaching us next, so keep an eye out for that!
We hope to see you in the kitchen on November 15 at 6:00 pm EST. Let’s go back to Flavortown!!
Wondering where all your money went? Worried about the future? Want a FREE 50$ Staples gift card?
If you answered yes to any of these questions (or even if you didn’t) come and join us this coming November 12th at 12pm (noon) to 1pm on Zoom for our budgeting seminar from Desjardins where you’ll have a chance to win a 50$ Staples gift card. They will guide you through an interactive presentation that will give you tools to succeed in the ~real~ world and show you how to budget your funds like a ~responsible~ young adult.
This event is open to everyone! Desjardins sponsors MACSS and allows us to continue to throw fun events for our student body and funds the MACSS scholarship. We hope to see everyone there!
Quarantine just got extended and this entire pandemic has made it very hard to meet other people. Making new friends is arguably the best thing about university, yet it’s been so difficult. Therefore, we decided to host a new bi-weekly event called Coffee, Cookies, and Chill!
Every other week, we will host a Zoom event where you can drop-in, talk to people, decompress, and get your mind off of work. Every edition will have a different theme.
For our first edition the theme is “speed friending“! We want to give you the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends within ACB and other departments. Yes, these events are open to anyone! On top of being a good way to meet other students, this event is a great reminder that it is important to take some time to decompress and take care of ourselves.
Some of you may be bummed out that you won’t be able to show off your awesome costume like you normally would, but MACSS has got you covered. Get in the Halloween mood with our first ever costume contest! We want to see your SPOOKIEST fit!!
Do you have any school related questions? Wondering which classes to take next semester? Need tips for studying? Having a tough time with online learning?
